I seriously cannot thank Dr. Fealy and Dr. Bernieri at Hospital for Special Surgery, Bill at Elizabethtown Physical Therapy, and Julie at Westport Health Center enough!

This triple threat put Humpty Dumpty back together again - not only with expertise, but also with a proactive plan that allowed me to continue to train through the recovery and rehab phase.

Toward the end of last year's race season, the pain was so intense at times that my sleep, eating, training, and recovery patterns were totally out of whack.

I was a shell of myself and every day was a struggle.

Fast forward five months to the day: I crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon more than 5 minutes faster than my previous marathon record, earning a 2nd place finish.

My placing has very little to do with this post though.

The point is this: I made it from Hopkinton to Boston PAIN FREE, something I was unsure would EVER happen again.

If you're struggling with an injury, find a medical team who is not only knowledgeable, but also willing to listen to and accommodate your goals and ambitions.

Don't be afraid to ask questions and seek second opinions.

Travel, if necessary, to find a team you trust.

Because when you do, everything will change.
